The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a volunteer organization. Many of you might not realize it, but you can go all the way to National and most of the major officers are volunteers.
A lot of you give of your time quite freely with volunteer hours that can make you proud. Others not so many. We know some of you work and some have family or other obligations. Right now we are in the process of looking for 32 great volunteers. The project of opening and closing the gates of a local park would greatly behoove our flotilla. The county is looking for a group or organization to be responsible for opening at 0700 and closing Linda Pederson Park at 1900 every day. We are asking for 32 volunteers out of a membership of >160. We are offering you the chance to help your flotilla while you enjoy a beautiful sunrise or sunset. We are asking for the 32nd person because we need a strong, willing coordinator to take over and run this project. If you are interested or willing to be the coordinator, please contact me.

Nautical Trivia...
We've all heard:
Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning. Red skies at night, sailors delight.
Here are a couple more, in case you have never heard before:
Seagull, Seagull sit on the sand!
It's never good weather when you're on the land.
At sea with low or falling glass
Soundly sleeps the careless ass
Only when it is high and rising
Safely rests the careful wise'un.
Fair winds & calm seas

DAN MCCANN
Flotilla VICE Commander
